UPDATE: We are no longer accepting images for the Veteran’s Day Collage. Thank you very much for sharing this post with your friends and family. We received many beautiful images and we cannot wait to show you the Picaboo collage on Friday, Veteran’s Day.

Now that I have a son, the idea of sacrificing for my country is a reality. My son just started walking, so it’s a far-off worry. But it’s a relevant topic for me as I married into a military family.
My father-in-law is a decorated Colonel. He served in the Big Red One. My husband grew up on military bases and had moved 13 times by the age of 18. They were your typical military family. They bought groceries at the commissary, spent summers at the officer’s club pool and ate Thanksgiving dinner in the mess hall with the troops. Because of this, Veteran’s day has always been a big day for my family.
This year, Picaboo is putting together a collage to honor the men and women who have served our country, but we need your help. Send us a photo of a veteran you’d like to honor, along with their name, branch and rank to FBFan@picaboo.com and we’ll include them in our collage. Please make sure you send a high resolution image. A JPG is preferred but we’ll take any file format you have.
We’ll need your pictures by 5 PM Eastern Time on Friday, November 4th so that we have enough time to create an incredible project with all of the photos. Help us commemorate as many Veterans as we can. Share this post by clicking on the Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin or StumbleUpon icons below. Please spread the word!

This is an awesome idea. I did something like this for my mother’s family a while back. My Grandpa was one of 16 cousins that all joined up for the war together. They had all grown up together and were as close as brothers. They all loved the book I made of their photos. Some of the pictures were the last time they saw each other alive as they did not all return from WWII alive. I am currently working on a similar things for my husband’s family. Both sides have a very strong military presence – my husband served in the US Marines and fought over seas more than once. I am proud of them all. We have a wall that celebrates our family history of service.
Mattonna, thank you for your comment. The wall in your home sounds really beautiful. At my FIL’s house, he has a bookshelf full of pictures from his years of service. It’s truly breathtaking to view. As a mother, I have a stronger appreciation for all those families that sacrificed for our country.
Hi, trying to enter a veteran…..did I miss something? I can’t find a link to post a picture. Please, let me know.
Thanks,
Jackie.

Thanks for spreading the word, Melissa! We’ve received some amazing pictures so far. But we want to honor as many Veterans as we can. Thanks again for your help!
Is this for ones that have served or those that are also presently serving?
Maria, this is for those who have served and those who are serving. Anyone who has sacrificed and put our country first will be featured in the collage. Please send you images to FBFan@picaboo.com. The deadline is TONIGHT, 11/7/11, 10 pm ET.
Thank you so much for doing this, it is a great idea. I just sent you two photos of my Father from his service in Vietnam. One is not of very good quality picture but it’s a nice photo of him so if it doesn’t work for you I sent the other of him in boot camp. I will blog this today and share it on my Facebook and Twitter to get the “last word” out for you. Again, thank you very much.
