Steph,
Thank you for choosing one of my photos this week. As I'm fairly new to the technical aspects of photography, I look forward to each week's challenge and what I am learning from each one. I am delighted that you find quality in my work, especially knowing that there are many others in the challenge who are seasoned or professional photographers. It gives me such encouragement! If I could point out, though, that my last name is spelled with an A, not an E. Thanks again for the opportunity each week to stretch my skills and knowledge of photography!

Great question Laura! I set my WB to Cloudy when shooting outdoors because I like warm tones to my photos. It saves me a step in post-processing! Just a personal preference! :)

Steph,

I'm curious why you set your white balance to "cloudy" when shooting outdoors? What is the effect you're looking to achieve? Why not use "daylight" or even "auto white balance"? I live in Southwest Florida where we experience almost constant sunshine -- what would be the best choice in that situation?

Thanks! I really enjoy your column!
