This week was all about capturing winter activities. Whether you had a fresh blanket of snow or you walked along your local beach, this was a great way to see what winter looks like in each of your home towns and cities! Below are the top 15 photographs of the week {in no particular order} with a little feedback from me to help grow your photography skills.
1. Denise Ricks: At first when I saw this photograph, I thought your subject was walking on the beach! It wasn’t until I looked a little closer, I realized it was a frozen lake. Nice use of rule of thirds and the horizon is a great leading line to draw the eye to where your subject is going.
2. Terri Mapin: Wipeout! I love the action in this photograph and your subject’s expression. It feels as if your subject is going to fly right off the screen towards me!
3. Tara Kennedy: I absolutely love the angle and perspective of this photo! It gives the tree your subject is sitting on height. Also, you did a fantastic job capturing the crisp blue sky which can be difficult when shooting snow.
4. Susan Padilla: I am a sucker for the golden hours and the beautiful lighting! Again, nice use of the rule of thirds and using the shoreline as a leading line. Even though your subject isn’t tack sharp, it’s ok! You captured her motion {and joy!} running down the beach.
5. Paulette Collier: Can I just say how jealous I am of everyone that was at the beach this week? I love how you captured your subject’s reflection in the water. The only thing I would have done a little bit differently was leave a little more room at the top so it wasn’t such a tight crop on his head.
6. Monica McGuire: This one made me giggle! I love the pop of pink on the white snow.
7. Mary Richards: This photograph really spoke to me! Even though, I don’t know if this is dad and son or mom and daughter, it just really stood out to me!
8. Heather Bird: Great job on this one! It’s so hard to photograph so much white, especially white on white. Your white balance is spot on in this one!
9. Erin LaPlace: I can feel just how cold it must have been on that frozen pond! I love the colors in this: from the blue of the ice and snow to the golden sky. Also, this makes a great silhouette!
10. Diana Uyder: Great shot! This photo uses the rule of thirds nicely but I might have placed the surfer on the right instead of the left which would have given you more of the spray of the ocean.
11. Danielle Hammell: This photograph screams snow day! My own child was doing just this when it snowed a few weekends ago. Great job capturing the falling snow!
12. Colleen Richert: Looks like hockey is favorite winter sport among everyone! I love the crispness of this photo.
13. Barbara Clerihue: Love! There is so much going on in this photo: from the sun in sky to the shadows of the trees on the snow to the resting snowboarders. This was a great capture!
14. Wendy Martelle: Love the perspective of this photograph! Thanks for taking us on a ride through the snow! I also love the twilight lighting to this. It gives the photo a feel of mystery along with coldness.
15. Sherri Stollerr: This little gal looks like she had a lot of fun in the snow! Great job catching the snow in her fur. I also love pop of pink against the mainly black and white of the photo.

Being new to this, making the list this week was such a surprise and an honour. It gives me just what I needed…a little confidence boost! All of the photos this week were fantastic, it’s great to see and share everyone’s work. I’m so happy to have joined this community of people with the shared passion for photography! Can’t wait for next week’s challenge!
Love number 14…… this picture says it all! I agree with one of the comments about when the topic begins and ends. Perhaps I missed it somewhere, but if you could refresh our minds that would be wonderful! I seem to keep missing the deadline!
I like 14 best. You feel as if you are there and can almost see the frosty breath escaping.
It’s a tossup between # 13 and # 14. Number 13 is serene and #14 is exhilerating.

I would have to say that #14 is the most beautiful but #11 makes me smile. Love them all.
