This week, you were challenged to an early rise and shine. And shine you did! I hate getting up early just as much as the next person but the lighting does make for beautiful photographs, doesn’t it? I loved seeing your shots of stunning sunrises, impressive silhouettes, and morning routines. Some of you can sure make a mean breakfast! You really understood my tips and tricks for dawn photography and your photos were a true testament. Your talents have motivated me to get up a little earlier and explore the very early hours of my day. Maybe.
15 Photos Taken at Dawn
1. Diane Lawlor – I absolutely love the colors in this one. You able to capture the golden tones of the sunrise and keep a little of the cool tones in the snow. Impressive!

2. Marsha Mood – This was creative! I love that you captured your morning breakfast. This is a great example of food photography! I also love that you placed the bulk of your color {the blueberries} in the lower right hand corner. Nice use of rule of thirds!

3. Barbara Berg – This is stunning! At first, I wasn’t sure what the actual object was and I didn’t care! I just love the silhouette and how the sun highlights the plant in all the right places!
4. Dorrie Stotko - This a great dawn photograph and I’m so glad you were also able to find a little sign of spring! I love the backlighting in this and that you were able to capture the detail in the nest.

5. Terri Sims – The dreaded morning commute! Does the spectacular sunrise make it any less painful? I think so! I love your creativity in this one.

6. Susan Slattery – I love when the sun is peeks through your blinds. It’s like it’s just begging you to wake up! The simplicity of this photo and the shadows on the other side of the window have me wondering what’s outside. Bring on the day!
7. Gail Starr – I really like your approach on capturing the sunrise in this one. The reflection of the sunrise in the building makes this city shot unique.

8. Colleen Richart – Your photograph just proves you don’t need a sunrise to get a beautiful shot of dawn! You captured the foggy, cold morning perfectly.
9. Vivian Clibon – Love your use of silhouettes. You captured the branches’ details perfectly. Also, gotta love those golden tones in the background!
10. Sheila Kerfoot – I just love how the sun is hitting those buildings on the pier. It really highlights the architecture! One tip – during post-processing, remove the antenna in the background so it’s not so distracting.
11. Jann Kostka – I have never been to the desert and this photo makes me want to go right now! There is something interesting about every layer of this photograph: the vegetation in the foreground, the hills in the middle, and a beautiful sky in the background!
